Project Objective:

The goal of the project is the preservation and popularization of Ukrainian cultural heritage. By using 3D scanning, the aim is to document the current state of the monuments and develop souvenir products using augmented reality (AR) technologies, which will draw attention to the issue of the destruction of historical sites and promote tourism development.

Key stages of the project:

  • Conducting 3D digitization. The Skeiron team conducted the most large-scale 3D digitization expedition, covering all regions of Ukraine. As a result, digital copies of 40 architectural monuments were created.
  • Creation of AR postcards. Based on the digitized models, a series of AR postcards was developed that can be scanned using the application. When scanning a postcard, the user sees a 3D model of the object in augmented reality.
  • Development of the "Pocket City AR" mobile application for iOS and Android platforms. The application serves as a library of postcards featuring objects from various cities (Kyiv, Odesa, Kharkiv, Lviv, Chortkiv).
  • Creation of audio guides. Audio guides about the objects were recorded in Ukrainian and English.
