This project popularizes Ivan Franko’s handwritten heritage through augmented and virtual reality technologies. Franko House is carrying it out with support from the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation. The museum is digitizing the writer’s personal archive and looking for new ways to present his manuscripts to a wide audience. Our task was to bring these archival materials to life for museum visitors. For the guided tour “Ivan Franko. The Charm of Old Manuscripts,” we created AR postcards featuring Franko’s manuscripts and animated one of the paintings. We also set up virtual reality headsets at the museum.
Project goal:
To combine Ivan Franko’s handwritten heritage with modern digital technologies and make it more engaging for museum visitors. To create an interactive experience in which postcards and a painting come to life on a smartphone screen, and visitors can step into virtual reality right at Franko House.
Key project stages:
- Generate video animations for themed postcards and one painting.
- Develop a website with augmented reality technology: a visitor scans a postcard or the painting with a smartphone camera, and a video plays over the image.
- Set up virtual reality headsets at Franko House.
