Using augmented reality, users can point their smartphone camera at a building and "undress" its facade, seeing what it looked like before modern changes — without advertisements, signboards, and other layers.
The project recreates the central street of the city — Proskurivska — in its authentic appearance from the early 20th century. To do this, the team studied old photographs and blueprints, conducted laser scanning of buildings and streets, and then created 3D models of 37 historical structures.

Project Objective:

To draw public attention to the issue of preserving and restoring the architectural heritage of Khmelnytskyi, as well as to increase the tourist and investment appeal of the city through modern technologies.

Key stages of the project:

  • Study historical photographs and blueprints of the buildings on Proskurivska Street.
  • Conduct laser scanning of the streets and structures.
  • Create 3D models of 37 historical buildings in their authentic appearance.
  • Develop the "khmel.naked" mobile application.
  • Integrate an AR function to "undress" facades in augmented reality mode.
  • Provide free access to the application for residents and tourists.
