Sartsevich: Lutsk's phenomenon of naive art
This project is dedicated to restoring and popularizing the forgotten name of Stanislav Sartsevych, a Lutsk-based sculptor and representative of naïve art.
Through digital technologies, the creation of an online archive, and 3D visualizations, his works are becoming accessible to a wide audience. The project brings together history, art, theatre, and digital tools to contribute to the de-Sovietization of culture and rethinking of local heritage.
Project Objective:
To revive the forgotten name of sculptor Stanislav Sartsevych, return his art to the people of Lutsk and the world, and foster the de-Sovietization of culture, reinterpretation, and promotion of local heritage through modern technologies and a cross-sectoral approach.
Key Project Stages:
- Create 3D visualizations of Stanislav Sartsevych’s sculptures: digitizing preserved works held at the National Centre of Folk Culture “Ivan Honchar Museum” and reconstructing lost pieces based on archival photographs.
- Develop a digital archive compiling research results on the artist’s biography and creative legacy.
- Launch a website serving as a visual archive and a platform of memory.
- Conduct a scholarly study of Sartsevych’s phenomenon with the participation of renowned art historians, including Zoia Navrotska and Pavlo Hudimov.
- Present the results through a theatrical performance inspired by the research.
- Establish a sustainable model for working with artistic heritage to ensure its preservation, reinterpretation, and promotion.
The project "Sartsevych: The Virtual Return of Lutsk's Naive Art Genius" is being implemented by the "Algorithm of Action" platform (Lutsk) with the support of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation.
The platform transforms artistic concepts into tangible projects. It unites artists and partners, providing tools for development and promotion, enhancing visibility within the media landscape, opening new opportunities, and making culture more resilient through the use of digital resources.
