Rakhmanov-Volkonsky Manor
About object
In the 1880s, Olena Rakhmanova-Volkonska built an elegant manor in the village of Veisbakhivка according to a design by the architect, artist, and ceramic master O. Yu. Yahn. The artist M. V. Sokolov worked on the interior design. The manor was built in the Ukrainian Art Nouveau (Modern) style and included a guesthouse, an outbuilding, and a church. A distinctive feature was the generous use of majolica and terracotta for the decoration of the buildings. The estate was almost completely destroyed by the Soviet authorities and during the Second World War. Only the manor's outbuilding has survived to this day; in its shape, it resembles a traditional Ukrainian house split into two halves. Today, the Holy Nicholas Church is located inside the outbuilding.
